‘Forging Entanglement’
2026
This
installation explores concepts of material determinism, chaos and entanglement
as constitutive elements of reality. These themes are enacted in my forging
process, with form emerging through the entanglement of human artistic intent,
material agency, and wider environmental factors. The audience is invited to
enter the space and exist relationally to the material around them.
‘Reinterpret’
2025
This series of modular sculptures was developed in response to my perceived sense of implicit violence inherent in the structure of Hereford Cathedral, both as an architectural space and as an institution. The suspended installation utilises sharp, hostile forms in conjunction with an imposing vertical scale to create a sense of tension and anxiety in the viewer. Through this, the work seeks to highlight the oppressive undercurrent of such monumental religious spaces and examine their role in enforcing submission within the congregation.
Untitled
2025
This untitled work is a speculative maquette for a much larger public sculpture installation. Drawing on the imposing language of brutalist architecture, the work stages a confrontation between viewer and material through the harsh, abrupt shearing of steel, evoking a sense of jeopardy and collapse. These violent forms emerge through the application of equally forceful forging processes achieved under a hydraulic press using specialised tooling. By pushing the material near its mechanical limit, jeopardy is not only visually suggested but physically enacted in the making process.
